Updating a Grade After Submission: Online Change of Grade (COG)¶
Once the grading period ends, the Office of the University Registrar (OUR) posts grades to student records and they become visible to students. Any change after that point must go through the Online Change of Grade (COG) process — there is no other way to update a posted grade.
Notes
- COG only covers grades submitted Fall 2018 or later. Earlier grades require a memo through secure upload — contact your college for assistance.
- Any instructor with Grades Security access can submit a COG for their class. Department and College Grades Approvers can also submit one on an instructor's behalf.
Navigation: go to uf.tfaforms.net/f/cog1
- Select the term (format MDYT — Millennium, Decade, Year, Term; e.g.
2211for Spring 2021) - Select the course number (format
ABC1234) - Select the class number (5-digit format)
- Click Continue
- Select the student from the dropdown, or type any part of their name or UFID
- Select the grade-change reason: Assignments Submitted Late, Final Exam Taken Late, Miscalculation, Missing Assignments Found, or Other (Other prompts for a text explanation)
- Select the new grade — the correct grading basis is selected automatically; a Writing Requirement grade is also requested if the class offers one. Selecting an E or U grade prompts the same E/U questions as the Grading Roster.
- Click Submit
Also worth knowing
- If a grade was left blank during the original grading window, the system auto-populated an
N*grade for that student. - If a student dropped or withdrew, their grade is entered as
W; changing it requires a petition, not a COG.
